Can this job be sponsored?

Some things to check

  • We could not tell the occupation from the title. Whether a job can be sponsored depends on its occupation code.

Look up the occupation code (CASCOT) (opens in a new tab)
  • SmartestEnergy Limited holds an A-rated Skilled Worker licence.

Register of licensed sponsors, GOV.UK (opens in a new tab)

Read from the advert, the Home Office register and the Immigration Rules. Whether you can be sponsored also depends on your own circumstances, such as your age and visa history. This is information, not advice.

About the job

In this role you will define and drive the technology and architecture strategy that supports a critical, high-growth trading environment. You will provide senior leadership across the full architecture landscape—applications, data, integration, infrastructure, and security—ensuring systems are scalable, resilient, and aligned to business strategy. You will own the end-to-end architecture blueprint, guiding transformation initiatives that simplify the technology estate, reduce complexity, and enable faster delivery, stronger risk management, and improved operational efficiency. As a key strategic partner to Trading, Risk, and Technology leadership, you will translate business ambitions into practical architectural solutions, shaping the evolution of the ETRM ecosystem. The role involves driving modernisation, standardisation, and rationalisation of platforms, embedding best practices and non-functional requirements by design, and influencing enterprise-wide architecture decisions. You will also play a pivotal role in governance, vendor strategy, and mentoring architects, ensuring the organisation is equipped with robust, future-ready architecture to support expanding trading capabilities. What skills/experience do I need to be successful? - Extensive enterprise architecture experience in complex environments, with deep expertise in energy trading, risk management, and ETRM platforms (trading, risk, scheduling, pricing, settlements, and market operations); - Strong understanding of energy markets, trading lifecycles, risk and regulatory requirements, with the ability to apply emerging technologies to evolving business and operating models; - Proven leadership of large-scale transformation programmes, including platform modernisation, application rationalisation, architecture governance, and roadmap development across solution, domain, and enterprise architecture; - Expertise in modern technology ecosystems, including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, APIs, microservices, event-driven and high-availability architectures, open data, SOA, and predictive analytics. What sets us apart? - Global Impact: With offices in the UK, US, and Australia, and plans for further expansion, you'll be part of a dynamic, globally-minded team, with opportunities to explore new markets and make a difference on a global scale. - Flexible Working: Embrace the freedom to work from anywhere in the world for up to 30 days a year.
