From people who’ve been through it

What getting a visa with that employer is really like

Before you accept an offer, see how long the certificate and the decision took for others, who paid the fees and what went wrong, and ask the people who went through it.

Find a company Find people on your route

How it works

  1. 1

    Read the experiences

Each sponsor’s page shows what members went through with it: weeks to the certificate and to the decision, the outcome, the fees, and tips for the next person.
  2. 2

Ask what you need to know

Ask a question on the company’s page. Answers from people who were sponsored there, had an offer there or applied there say so, and you’re told when someone answers.
  3. 3

    Share yours when it’s done

When you mark your visa granted on your timeline, we offer to share the experience with your dates already filled in. It takes two minutes and saves the next person weeks.

Questions people ask about sponsors

  • How long after the offer did the certificate of sponsorship come?
  • Did they sponsor a data analyst, or only engineers?
  • Did anyone switch from a Graduate visa with them?
  • Who paid the visa fee and the Immigration Skills Charge?
  • Did anyone have the offer withdrawn after the interview?
  • Do they sponsor people already in the UK on another visa?

Questions people ask

Who shares experiences?

+

Members who went through a visa with a company: people it sponsored, people it offered a job to where the visa didn’t go ahead, and people who applied. Each experience says which, and we haven’t checked it, so read it as someone’s account rather than fact.

What goes into an experience?

+

The role and year, the visa route, whether they applied from inside or outside the UK, how many weeks from offer to certificate of sponsorship and from biometrics to decision, what happened, and whether the employer paid the visa fee. Optionally, one short tip for the next person.

Why can’t I see the numbers for a company?

+

Figures appear once five people have shared an experience with that company, so nobody’s own dates can be picked out. Tips show sooner, without names.

Is it moderated?

+

Yes. Tips, questions and answers are checked before they’re public, members can report anything, and moderators review reports. Nothing is paid for and nothing is removed for being negative; we remove what breaks the rules, like offers of paid sponsorship or contact details.

Can people message me?

+

Only if you let them. People you’ve connected with can message you, you choose whether others can send a message request, and you can block anyone. Solicitors can never message you first.

What do other people see about me?

+

Your name, headline and what you’ve asked and answered. Your visa route, where you are in the process, your nationality and your employer are each hidden, shown to connections or shown to everyone: you choose, one by one. Your visa timeline is always private, and experiences never carry your name.
