A tuberculosis (TB) test is needed for anyone coming to the UK for 6 months or more who has lived in Sudan for 6 months or more and was living there within the last 6 months. The gov.uk page on the Sudan TB test for a UK visa (opens in a new tab) sets out this rule. Two groups of visa applicants also need the test, listed below.
Who needs the test
The test applies when both of these conditions are met, and the UK stay is for 6 months or more:
- The applicant has lived in Sudan for 6 months or more.
- The applicant was living in Sudan, or in another listed country, within the last 6 months.
The gov.uk page refers to other listed countries without naming them.
Visa types that need the test
The guidance also lists these applicants:
- A fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner applying on a family visa.
- A returning resident who has been away for more than 2 years.
For the wider application process, see the visa process guide.
