Details Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency & Acute
Location: North East Tasmania
Position Type: Permanent, full time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight *hours can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation contribution.

The Position Working across emergency and inpatient acute, subacute and palliative care, the RN provides comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in accordance with the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice and THS policies.
The role is integral to maintaining high-quality clinical services in a multipurpose facility, ensuring timely response to patient needs, supporting chronic disease management, and providing first-line emergency care for local community presentations. The RN contributes to multidisciplinary teamwork, facilitates effective communication with patients and families, and supports the coordination of care within the broader health service network.
The Registered Nurse actively participates in quality and safety initiatives, incident reporting, infection prevention and professional development, while also supporting and guiding ENs, support staff and students. The role upholds THS values and fosters a safe, culturally respectful, and inclusive environment that meets the health needs of the community.
Health Service St Marys Community Health Centre has an emergency room and 8 inpatient beds. The centre offers emergency, sub-acute and palliative care and a range of community and outpatient services which include community nursing, home help, an adult day centre, physiotherapy, social work, and child health. Other allied health services visit regularly. The Tasmanian Lymphedema Centre is also based at the facility. Medical services are provided in conjunction with the co-located GP practice operated by Ochre Health.
The Location St Marys is nestled in the Fingal Valley in Tasmania’s North-East, approximately 90 minutes' drive from Launceston, and just 10 minutes from the vast and unspoilt beaches of the beautiful East Coast. St Marys is within easy reach of several National Parks and world class mountain bike trails.
You Will Need - Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated clinical competence across emergency and acute nursing, with the ability to independently assess, plan and deliver evidence-based care in a rural multipurpose setting.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and engage respectfully with patients, families and the broader community.
- Sound critical thinking and emergency response capability, with the ability to recognise and escalate clinical deterioration, prioritise care, and manage unscheduled presentations in a small rural health environment.
