Agency Children's Support Worker - Secure Unit Location: Peterborough Hours: Flexible - Choose Your Own Shifts (Days, Nights & Weekends Available) Salary: Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience About the Role We are currently recruiting experienced and dedicated Children's Support Workers to join our agency team, supporting a secure unit in Peterborough. The young people you will support present with complex emotional needs and very challenging behaviours. Key Responsibilities - Build positive and professional relationships with children and young people. - Support residents with daily routines, education, activities, and personal development. - Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours using appropriate de-escalation techniques. - Promote emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive behaviour. - Work collaboratively with residential staff and other professionals to deliver high-quality care. - Maintain accurate records and complete documentation in line with safeguarding and organisational policies. - Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and child protection at all times. Essential Requirements - Previous experience working with children and young people in a residential, educational, care, or similar setting. - Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviours and complex emotional needs. - Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. - A compassionate, resilient, and reliable approach. - A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. - The legal right to work in the UK. Desirable - Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential). - Relevant qualifications in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
